Weekend Treasures

Hello dear readers! Wow, I haven’t been here in a while. Good news is that my honours dissertation is done and dusted. After almost 6 months of hard work it feels amazing to submit a 40-page dissertation. I just have one presentation left on Thursday and then my life as a student is over. I’ve also been crafting up a storm for a local Christmas night market I’ll be selling at. Hopefully I’ll get enough stock done before the 30th of November! Will keep you updated and maybe share some pics. As per usual, today’s post features some link love and things I’ve learnt recently.

Here are links to some cool things I found over the weekend:

  1. Ruche does it again with a ballet-inspired lookbook. So pretty!
  2. Cassandra Featonby’s project limited range of rope jewelry for Mr Price – I think I’ll have to add one of these pieces to my collection.
  3. Beautiful clothes from Hermanna Rush. May I have one of each, please?
  4. 50 DIY Days of Christmas over at Paper Mama. I look forward to following this series and maybe attempting a few DIYs.
  5. Some inspiring blog mood boards from the Blogging Your Way e-course on decor8. I think mood boards are a great way to define your style and get a clear picture of where your blog/project is heading.

Here are 5 things I learnt recently:

  1. Ice-cream on a hot day is pure bliss.
  2. Seeing all the Christmas decorations and goodies in stores makes me feel like a kid again!
  3. Crochet is a great stress-management tool. Also, job interviews are a great cause of stress. I’m trying to balance the two out…
  4. Technical editing and proofreading a dissertation takes FOREVER.
  5. Etsy has some amazing advice for crafters who want to start selling their handiwork, such as pricing advice, craft show displays and even what to pack to a craft show.

Hope you have a great week, dear readers! What have you learnt recently?

Weekend Treasures

Hello dear readers! Hope you had a great weekend. I attended my cousin’s wedding on Saturday and it was lovely. So happy for her!

I also went shopping with my mom and bought some pretty things at Mr Price. As you can see in the photo, I am loving bright colours and pastels this summer.

Here are some links to cool things I found over the weekend:

  1. Beautiful photos of Ireland by Yann Calonne seen here.
  2. A DIY Decahedron Mobile by Aunt Peaches seen on Apartment Therapy. It’s made with straws!
  3. Some rad stamps by Elise Joy. A must-have to make those handwritten notes extra-special.
  4. Joy the Baker’s post about her Mama’s wisdom. This post made me smile.
  5. I wish my kitchen looked like this one on 79 Ideas. Pretty!

Here are a few things I learnt recently:

  1. Shape classes at Virgin Active will render me useless and immobile for at least the next 3 days. It was insane!
  2. The new Mumford and Sons album is amazing and I have been listening to it on repeat since I got it. Especially this song.
  3. Looking for a job is stressful. That is all I can say right now.
  4. When the ring-bearer at a wedding is a cheetah, the groom gets kinda nervous when he’s asked to take the rings…
  5. The new Cleo Droomer range at Mr Price is gorgeous, and of course I just had to add a few of the pieces to my wardrobe!

Weekend Treasures

It’s Monday already? No hard feelings though because we’ve actually reached the interesting part in our honours dissertation – data collection. This week we’ll be hanging out in retail outlets and getting interested consumers to fill out our questionnaires. I’ve been looking forward to this part because this is where the research starts getting real, when you get out into the field and talk to respondents. So far it’s been mostly theoretical but from now on it’s practical through collecting and analysing data. Exciting!

The above photo is of our two sister kitties, Suki and Lula. They’re very cute, don’t you think? I had to snap a pic of them cuddling on my bed!

Some link love found over the weekend:

  1. Some helpful reading material about managing your time on Blog Milk.
  2. Amazing paper creations by Jo Lynn Alcorn seen here.
  3. Interiors photography by Jonas Ingerstedt.
  4. Watercolour paintings by Serena Mitnik-Miller. Beautiful patterns and colours that remind me of the ocean.
  5. This picture made me laugh. 🙂

Here are 5 things I learnt recently:

  1. I am not a morning person. When required to awaken at 4 in the morning it’s not a pretty picture… Thank goodness for coffee!
  2. It’s amazing to give back to a community and to teach people who really want to learn.
  3. Airports give me a serious case of wanderlust. Anyone want to sponsor my plane ticket?
  4. The first rain of spring changes everything.
  5. This spoke to my heart this week: “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” – Phil 4:6,7 (MSG)

Weekend Treasures

It’s Monday and that means its time for some Weekend Treasures. Hope this week treats you kindly, dear readers!

  1. DIY Driftwood Photo Display. Pretty!
  2. Creature Comforts’ Pinterest Pros series. So many inspiring people to follow!
  3. 5 ways to style denim pants from A Beautiful Mess. I basically live in my denims and this post gives some great ideas.
  4. 30 Writing Tips from Famous Authors.
  5. Pretty postcards from Littlegreenshed.

5 things I learnt recently:

  1. Playing with my cats, although it may result in injury, is an instant pick-me-up on a bad day.
  2. When going through a difficult time you realise very quickly who your true friends are.
  3. Seeing South African athletes excel at the Paralympics revitalises national pride and a love for our country.
  4. I constantly buy more books even though my bookcase is full of books I have yet to read. I think I might have a problem!
  5. This is so true: “Sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”
